A

Anecic

Very large worms that burrow deep and construct vertical burrows in order to return to the surface. They draw leaf litter and other dead plant matter into the burrows for consumption along with some soil.
The dorsal surface is often black or deep red.

Anterior

Sometimes referred to as the "head-end" of the worm. This is the end closest to the clitellum (present in mature individuals) and with the prostomium projecting from the first segment peristomium.
